The premise for this part of Cartographs of Transient
Displacement was to alter an individual unit
without changing its inherent features, but rather by changing its context-- its relationship to the surrounding environment.
After completing one large composition/map (comprised of 21
adjoining sheets of paper), I disassembled the individual drawings that made up the composition. These drawings were
then rearranged to form a completely new and different, yet still
unified, "map", in which the individual pieces remained unchanged.
This piece, along with a sound project that's still in progress, is part of the body of work i created in Kingston this summer.
